オーストラリアの小さな町の物語。羊、ブドウ畑、菜の花畑、桜並木、自然がいっぱい。信号は町にふたつだけ。少し前、60年前、まだ世界が二番目の大きな戦争をしていた頃、この町には捕虜収容所がありました。

This is a story of a small town in Australia. We can meet lots of nature, such as sheep, kangaroos, wine grapes and cherry trees. A little long time ago, in WWII, there was a POW camp in this town.

捕虜は日本人とイタリア人とが大半だった。
捕虜収容所、言葉からは辛い処遇をイメージしてしまうが
ここでは、三度の食事も与えられていた。

けれど、ある日
1000人以上の日本人捕虜による、集団脱走が起こる。
南半球の八月、とても寒い、満月の夜。

終戦後、長い時間をかけて、
人々は序々にこの事件を振り返ってきた。

この小さな町で、それから60年。

"POW camp." The image of this word is not good. But here, POWs were enough supplied of meals and clothes. One day, however, over 1000 Japanese POWs escaped from the camp. It was a cold night in August, in Southern hemisphere.
Since the end of the war, residents and ex-POWs have been reconciled with each other, in this small town.
